Pipping eggs
On a side note, we are boarded up for yet another hurricane. I guess we were due, since it’s been so long since Charley and Wilma. What a nuisance, but better safe than sorry. Looking at the latest updates, I think we’re getting a direct hit sometime in the early morning hours here in Ft Myers. |

greatballzofire, I’d rather have hurricanes than earthquakes. I like that we have warnings. |

I m glad to hear you got through the night okay. I’d maybe feel different about earthquakes if I lived in an urban center. When the Loma Prieta earthquake took down the freeway overpass in Oakland and sandwiched the cars, I was up in Truckee and still felt the earth move. I have always lived in rural settings, so the only thing that could fall on me would be a tree, or a very small building. The Katrina thing just gives me chills thinking of those poor folks waking up in the dead of night to water up to the second floor. I live on high ground, too. The only real danger I face is the potential for catastrophic forest fire. At least with that you get a warning; smoke! And the CDF spotter plane flying all around your neck of the woods. |
