 Chocolate and Vanilla......

This little one kind of reminds me of some of Kerby’s Mendota Calis. Although nitidas are known to have some aberrancies. I talked to someone else with F1 nitidas and they said all they’re females have a slight pattern. Either way, pretty interesting little one!! I’ve only seen the nose of the albino pipping it’s head out so far. LOL
And there is the tip of a nose of another melanistic peeking out.
So, I’m right on track at 50% each so far!!! LOL

I don’t have any info on Satin. When I bought her I was told buy the breeder he was selling her (and her siblings) for a friend, so he didn’t have anything on her other than she was a snow.

So did I, even when Kerby questioned whether she was a snow or not, I described her as an albino nitida. Problem is, without any type of lineage I can’t claim her to be one. So these are "just" snows and melanistics, rather than true nitidas. When Kerby questioned her, it got me thinking of her genetics and whether or not she was genetically melanistic or not, if that makes any sense? LOL

TDK: I’d love to see yours!!!! Have you ever posted a pic of it before?

I’ve got 3 pipping yet, the albino and melanistic from above, and another just slit it’s egg. By the looks of the colors at the slit, I’m going to guess it’s another albino/snow.

#3 & #4...........

I REALLY like how dark these melanistics look. Almost like a striped MBK!!!

The albino with a little more visible stripe than #1.......

Well the para-type was described as having "on the sides, rather numerous cinnamon colored blotches or enlargements of a similarly colored longitudinal line"
I can scan the original description (along with the sketch drawing of the holotype) from Van Denburgh if you like. ;)
Hershey is nearly perfect with only a few white flecks along his lowest dorsal scale row and a few marks in front of his eyes. Satin’s is a little harder to see, but she does have a few yellow scales along her lower dorsals near her neck and yellow scales around her lower jawline. One thing I wanted to see from these 2 was if "perfect" striping was inheritable. Both have perfect unbroken stripes from the nape of their necks to the tips of their tails. So far, (in the ones that it’s visible) it does appear to be. ;)

TDK: Beautiful little girl!!! I love how dark she is!!! Usually nose rubbing is from something in the tank, whether its too warm too wet etc. Sometimes taping something along the lower part of the tank can help to stop it. ;)

2 more pipping, an albino and another melanistic!!! So, with six pipped or soon to pip, I’m still at 50% of each!!! LOL

#5, almost identical to #4, but with the stripe less noticable...........

TDK: I got Hershey from F1 Reptiles. They no longer sell them though. Seems they switched over to a photography page. I got Satin from B.E.S.T. Reptiles at a show, but they were selling her and her siblings for someone else (not sure who), and didn’t have a background on her, so I can’t honestly say she’s a "true" nitida.

All 10 are out now!!! I wound up just as the genetics would predict, half snows and half melanistics! I want to wait till after their first sheds to see what they’re patterns look like, but so far I think I’m leaning to keeping either #1 or #9 out of the snows, and #4 or #10 out of the melanistics. We’ll see after shed time. ;)

P.S. Jetzen- You DO have half this "bloodline"!!! LOL

I think I’m going to wait an extra year for Lola. She was a slow starter and is still fairly small for her age. I’m not sure if I want to breed her to Hershey when she’s ready to see what her aberrancy does to the snow and melanistic trait, or to Bones to see if 2 similar aberrants produce similar hatchlings or weirder ones. LOL
