I made my choice to buy a cage from Boaphile and wanted to ask, would a 50 gallon cage do? My snake is about adult sized at 2 and a half feet long so I don’t think it’ll be a problem for him. The cage is great for where it’s going to go so do you think my Cali Kingsnake will be happy in that? The next size up is 2 ft. deep and measures 65 gallons and I was told that it’s better to get a bit smaller than larger. Thanks

Yeah they are pretty nice, I plan to buy more once I get a new snake. EBV should have something I like.

I’ve always considered bigger better. It allows better thermal gradients, more room to roam, etc. etc. I started this "little" girl out in a 50 gallon tank when she was a 13" hatchling and she’s one of my calmest snakes............

I moved them to tubs. The base demensions of a 50 Gal. is 36"X18", right now she’s in a 66 qt tub 39.5" X 20.5". So, she’s got a LITTLE more room. I’ve always started all my snakes in the tanks I plan to keep them in. Never went for the " they need this size at this age" etc. Just seemd to be a waste of space and money to me. ;)

You know, I really have a good spot for the 50 gallon cage and it’s much larger than the cage he’s in now so I’ll go with that. Later when I get another snake or snakes, then I will go larger and stack them somewhere else. Thanks again, Alec

Question: What is the largest Kingsnake available in the U.S? What are the larger species that you have?

Eastern, at 60 inches, is one of the larger kinds. I have one of the smallest, pyros. LOL!

More or less. I’ll try and make a trip down to EBV for the people who know of it and see if they have any...Thanks, I’ll probably buy the tank tonight or in the morning.

Anyone had one of these cages? I might have a problem with lighting but kingsnakes don’t really need total sunlight right? I think I can arrange the cage so it gets light, but it’s opposite of the sun but I don’
t think kingsnakes need light that much. I oredered it a week from today so it should arrive soon
