How can I help?
Anyways, I’ve only held this girl once (at the pet shop) and she’s been hiding under 2 sheets of newspaper under her hut-like rock. I’ve been spraying the enclosure once every day, but since she’s under so many things, I don’t think she’s getting of the humidity. Should I take her out for a warm soak and risk a snip? (I’m also quite terrified of her XD I don’t know why. Seriously, don’t even laugh about it O_O) |

All my snakes get moist sphagnum moss hides. When they are in blue (pre-shed, their eyes get cloudy and their scales look dull) they love to go in the moss hides. This helps them with the humidity. You can make a moss hide out of any suitable small container; here I have used a pint cottage cheese container. Fill it with clean sphagnum moss that you have squeezed the excess water out of. Make an entrance hole in the side, and put the lid on, and invert it. No need to be afraid of your little snake. Even if she does bite you the bite will feel no worse than being pinched by a clothes pin. None of my 7 kings or 4 gopher snakes or 2 bull snakes has ever tried to bite me, although one of the big gophers did taste me once, and it didn’t hurt, just felt funny. |
