 Escaping question

ive been reading these snakes are very prone to escaping, how much weight will they be able to move? i have a corn and a ball python, neither have been able to move the weights i put on the cage top, a 5 pound weight on the corn and around 8 on the ball, ive seen cage top clamps but they are just overly expensive, cost more than some of the snakes they sell in the store for goodness sake! will a 5 pound weight hold it in without any problems?

I prefer bungee cords. I put a bungee cord on either end of the tank or tub. Snakes are the power lifters of the reptile world and can push through a tiny space. With weights on the tank the snake may get his head through a gap and then get stuck, and injured. This has happened to other people’s snakes. With the bungees there is no room for a gap, or for any weights to be budged by the snake pushing a corner of the lid.

I received a king snake and had to make some fast secure method to hold the typical metal frame top on ...I used the double sided self sticking Velcro on the 4 corners... It really works well....available at most sewing and craft stores ...and Home Depot too.

I also purchased the metal spring clamps about 6.00 for 4 ..I think it was 2.99 ..or 3.99 for a pair??? can’t really remember...but it wasn’t that bad. I hate bricks ...LOL

First youve got to build a little snake alcatraz, then you get six guard lizards in towers with high powered rifles, and one bigazz spotlamp with some alarms and razorwire fences....
j/k use the clamps, they work fine, a pair in the back and a pair in the front, or just get a sliding lid tank yo!
