Egg Feeding III feel that it’s a waste of time, since king snakes don’t eat eggs.

Egg Feeding Really? Guess someone must’ve forgot to tell mine that..........

This guy ate his so fast he had it swallowed before I could snap a pic.........

Whenever I have one of my females lay a clutch of infertile eggs I feed them away to my other Kings. ;)

Egg Feeding I guess when people think of eggs they usually are thinking of chicken eggs or some other sort of bird eggs. One time one of my fence lizards laid her eggs in the wrong place and they didn’t look viable by the time I found them, so I gave them to my little Cali king and he ate them. Bull snakes will eat chicken eggs; a bull snake in a chicken coop can become quite a pest! LOL!

Egg Feeding Hey GBoF, long time no see.........chicken eggs would be a bit large for a King, but smaller bird eggs like quail, Robin, swallow, etc. they would readily accept. Just a matter of finding them.......LOL

Egg Feeding Small bird eggs that are easy to obtain in good quantities are zebra finch eggs. Zebra finches will breed like mice; the only two ways to stop them from laying eggs is either take the nest basket away or take the male away.

Egg Feeding I have heard that birds, and eggs, make for some stinky, runny poo. Is that true?

Egg Feeding I’ve never really noticed a difference, but I’ve only successfully fed a chick once, after that the one that took it refused my next try, and I wound up with a chick with no good way to feed or keep it. Sorry to say it died within a few days. Not wanting to be stuck with an uneaten chick again, I stopped getting them. Even with the eggs I didn’t notice anything different, but eggs tend to be a small meal and they would still feed on normal prey a day or two after eating them. I have heard similar things for feeding an Indigo mice or rats. Whether thats true or not, I can’t say.......;)
My Hypo Florida King eating a chick.......
