Please help me lost my girl :(

alright..so i JUST bought about an 15inch Florida king snake 2 weeks ago and i loved it. I’ve wanted a snake my whole life and the worst thing possible happened.. The power got knocked out for the night and it must have gotten to cold in her tank during that night so she escaped:( i need some tips on where she might go and how i can attract her..or if there is even any chance of her coming back. My power is now back on and I’m making the upstairs very cold besides my room where her pen is. I breed mice for her so they are also in my room. My upstairs is kind of big and the downstairs is a lotbigger. What are the chances of her still being in my room are since its the warmest room besides the downstairs and her food is in there? or should i just buy myself a new one :(

My snakes have escaped on occasion too.... My normal Florida king to be exact ended up in the bed between the sheets .....was very cool to get him back like that.

Do not make the rest of the house cool...it might cause the snake to become ill if lower than 50-60F. You can expect the king snake to hide ...coming out in the wee hours of the morning.

The trick is to keep him alive even if he is in the house loose....keep water bowls in a few key spots...make a humid hide box ...plastic shoe box with hole cut in lid and moist substrate...they love a moist hide !

If you can keep a mouse in a wire cage ...you can place that near to the water and hide ...check it constantly. if it somehow eats the mouse and escapes before you see him...at least he is eating.

they like to hide behind things .... refrigerators...stoves ....closet items...sometimes they climb into drawers ...how IDK... Keep your eyes peeled for poop and urates. Look for the back of book shelves ...they have a crawl space under the back side....perfect spot to hide.

Wishing you lots of luck ...don’t give up hope !

Chances are 50/50 sometimes they find a spot to curl up and hide for days/week...then they go hunting for food and water... they will hug the walls and not usually take the wide open path across the room.. more like around the room hugging the walls... dressers ...end tables and the like. You can try to place a towel under the door when you leave if you think the snake is in the room.

I would search all the high places and then work down low...I had a bull snake that would love to climb up into the clothes that were on hangers. I would shut the door and place a towel under the gap...then I would let him roam for hours while I did my computer work etc... he was always amazing me with what he could do / climb.

50/50....

Don’t give up ...it will get hungry and thirsty...other snakes have been found 1 year later. They always found a way to survive....those homes didn’t have any mice problems for sure.

If you have a cat or dog look for any strange behavior from them as they will act strangely if they come across it and track it down.
