She Wont Eat!
I have a baby kingsnake(she’s only like 2 months old) I’ve heard from other people that baby snakes normally dont eat for the first couple months of life, but it still worries me that she’s going to die of starvation. She’s too little to eat rats or mice, she has crickets in her tank but their too big for her and I cant find any small enough, if you have any ideas or information about this please let me know a.s.a.p. Thank you

Try newborn pinkies. My baby King won’t eat crickets but he will gobble up pinkies.

She Wont Eat! What are your temps in the tank? Are they stable? Is there a big fluctuation/drop @ night? First stabilize your temps= mid/low 80s? What are you using to heat your tank?
Also it could be possible the snake is slowing down its food consumption due to weather changes. How often do you offer food? I think I’ve only heard once of a king eating crickets. That’s like a freak occurence. What kind of king do you have?

She Wont Eat! It’s only about a week or 2 after they’re born that they won’t eat because they are absorbing the yolk. They will not eat crickets or any other kind of insect. You need to give her pinkies (baby mice). At 2 months of age it should already be well established and eating good. If you just got it, you need to leave it alone for several days to get used to it’s new home. I would suggest you get a book about king snakes so you can learn proper care. it will be well worth it.

She Wont Eat! Black King took a long time to eat too when he was little. We ended up having to buy pinkies, frozen of course, and a small tupperware bowl. We put one of my daughters pet mice inside to "scent" it(or ask the local shop to do it, no biggie) and then put him and the pinkie in. Gobbled it right up. Now we still scent Black Thunder’s feed tank with her mice.

She Wont Eat! I agree with what everyone else has said so far. Take the crickets out of the tank. A king snake won’t eat crickets, and if you tried to feed them to one, it would die of malnutrition anyway. Kings are not insectivores and their intestines are not designed to derive nutrition from insects. Newborn hatchlings can sometimes be difficult to get to eat. Buy a day old pinky and try to feed it to him using some of the methods already mentioned. If that doesn’t work, try scenting the pinky with an anole--stick the pinky in the anole’s mouth and swish it around a bit--this seems to work best. If that doesn’t work, feed him a baby anole. Then switch to anole scented pinkies followed by regular pinkies as soon as you can. Good luck with the baby, and for future reference, always make sure a snake is an established feeder before buying it. Watch the snake eat, if possible.

She Wont Eat! I just got a baby kingsnake also, and mine also wouldn’t eat! But I got him to eat that very same day, just by warming up the pinkie in very warm water and then wiggling it in front of his face. He grabbed it right out of my fingers! I thought it was really cute, too. Hope everything goes alright!
