how come its tjhe komodopeople give bad reps have so high of a price and all that stuff but other large moniters you can buy in a pet store

the price is high because they are endangered and protected by governments. the bad rep is because people who are afraid of komodos most likely know nothing about monitors. the only reason they could be more dangerous than water monitors/croc monitors or albig’s is because of their weight and skull/teeth structure.

not to mention the deadly saliva they can have. Couldnt any monitor though get the bacteria in their mouths if they were to eat bad meat or get flesh stuck in their mouths?

i also have anothe q komodos get bactiria in there mouth from rotting teeth and all moniters eat meat in the wild dont they? if spo why is it the komodos with the notorios bactiria and not other moniters ?????

i think it has to do with the type of meat they eat and their serrated teeth. Komodo dragons are known for eating rotting carcasses as well as live animals. But i think most other monitors dont eat rotting meat. I could be wrong on that though. But im pretty sure that because they have serrated teeth they cut their gums quite often .

plenty people die from nonitor bites and infection in other countries you don’t hear about it because it is a local problem. the only reason people know about komodo saliva is because they are huge so naturaly people learn a bit about them. most monitors have bad bacteria. most people do to. Link komodos are just more famous. case and point you never hear about my relationship problems but you here all about parris hilton’s.
everyone knows the largest lizard and a little about them but few realize other monitors can be just as dangerous and so can human bites.

These animals are illegal to own, aside from zoos there are a few private keepers worldwide, all are approved by the National zoo and by presidential decree by the Government of Indonesia.
Those black market prices I mentioned were estimates from many years ago, how much does the time in prison in Indonesia, and handling by their authorities (you may wait 20 years for a trial, in conditions that are dog eat dog, and are subpar to their own citizens living conditions) , if you survive to see your trial you may end up with a death sentence or life in prison for messing with their national pride. This is an idea of what puts those prices so high.
Other large monitors do not weigh 200lbs for adult males with an empty stomach and havent eaten in a long time. In fact when you hear about 100lb plus water monitors, they are OBESE, in fact the world record water monitor was wild caught at 10ft 4 inches long, he was no doubt less than 100lbs. Other monitors can not take down water bufalo single handedly as large adults (yes adult males do this, without relying on the bacteria). Other monitors have not killed and eaten Dutch tourists in 25 minutes time when they sit down and leave the group, leaving only shoes and a few scraps of clothing.
Simply put you wont, and cant get komodos for pets.
