Thats easy, go to any zoo that keeps them..

Only those approved by the National Zoo, the International Komodo conservancy are permitted to keep them. Consider that all komodos are property of the Government of Indonesia and Presidential decree, can only be offered to instituitions proving their goal is to further conservation, and captive propogation for the better of the species and to keep them out of the publics hands, they are considered as dangerous animals in most places like Tigers and Lions.
The only 3 privately housed specimens are in instituitions that have regular visits by the public such as privately owned zoo/gardens.
No one has a pet komodo (varanus komodensis), if they tell you they do, they are full of it. They are Indonesias national Treasure.

honestly, if people cant take care of igs, they wont be able to take care of komodo dragons, i work in the conservation biology and research department at the zoo and its not permitted to have someone own a komodo, you would be an idiot if you actually wanted one, you would have to buy a rabbit everyday to feed it, not going to be cheap to keep it and to get one anyways...honestly you are really dumb if you want to even consider owning one...here are pics of the ones i work with in their enclosure for baby komodos, not full grown ones. The cage was 8 feet long by 6 feet high by 4 feet wide, have fun trying to build a cage that big

we feed them a specialized gelatin in the form of a sausage. If we were to feed live, we feed them whole chickens and sometimes rabbits. THey are insane eaters, we have to use 2 feet long tongs when feeding just to safe. Dont even talk about owning one, they dont deserve to be domesticated, they are wild animals and they should stay wild.

Hmm, so which brand is it?

Mazuri crocodilian-gel, Mazuri carnivorous reptile/amphibian gel, ectotherm (never got a single lizard to ever eat this stuff), or another brand?
I would rather use something that I know works with varanids, or at least base their diet off of whole animals then add other foods to it. I understand it can get difficult to keep up with a growing large varanids appetite but it pays off in the end to do it right. Dont get me wrong, I dont see anything wrong with alternative diets in addition to a good proven diet, just not as the only food source.
So which instituition do you work with? That young dragon looks like it can put away the food.

no i only feel that way to species listed as threatened. Im not against owning a sav monitor as a pet or even a water monitor, its just that wild populations of some species are declining and i get so furious when people try to domesticate certain animals, that really needs to be out in the wild. For example, blanchards cricket frogs. In canada, we busted our smarty pants to try to find one on peelee island for research. THe last confirmed siting was in 1996. We rescued around 20 from someone who was keeping them. However, in captivity we only have 2 left, due to their 3 year life span. It was because of keeping them in captivity, they were not able to breed properly and now we are down to our last two cricket frogs for captive breeding, but that can not happen because the two that are left are males. Once, these two die of old age, it may take years for us to find another bunch of cricket frog for research.

SHvar, as for the sausage, our nutrionists have grinded up everything into that form of a sausage, its not a commercial diet. We foudn it much easier to feed and easier to store so thats why we have it in the form of a sausage. All vitamins and nutrients are in that sausage. And yes, that guy packs away the food like theres no tomorrow. Hes gone from the health unit that i was working in, he was shipped to the minnesota zoo along with 6 of our other baby dragons (actually two were teens).

HAHAH for me my cage of 5 feet by 5 feet by 4 feet was so annoying to build, let alone bringing it into the house. I have no carpentry skills whatsoever. Ive decided this cage that i built should stay outside, too big to fit through the door. I guess its easy to build a large enclosure for some people, but for me i found it difficult to build a small enclosure.

that is what we are thinking but what will the animals live in while we tear them apart and reconstruct them. these things took weeks to build and we at least take a day each to tear down and put together. that is if we have no problems likes screws pulling out of the wood or plexiglass breaking during the move. it is quit a pickel.

cant you go to the vet and get a small dose of a Tranquilizer tat lasts only a few hours. or get one of those dog cage crates, lure it in the let it go in the new enclosure. hope that helps.

we don’t have to drug them we can put them in dog crates but we would have to be able to provide food/water and heat for the time it takes us to rebuild their cages. we might have to set up a temporary cage and move animals one at a time.
