Unless your that guy who owns the island off the coast of Africa, thats a part of the Government of Spain you wont have komodos as pets, I believe his are available for the public to view (not 100% positive), but when the komodo conservancy contacts him they may switch his 2 adults out at any time (not really pets), the same with the babies he bred, once they start to grow up they will be scattered around the zoos of the world. They do and allow very controlled breedings with each individual, males are bred, then circulated to zoos and taken out of the breeding business, females are bred a few times then taken out of circulation. So no, they are not pets, you cannot just buy them, they are property of the government of Indonesia, and strictly regulated. The whole idea with very few captive breedings scheduled is to keep them out of private collections by purposefully keeping the captive population low also. |
