Slow worms? Hi I’ve heard somewhere that you can buy slow worms. Is this true, and, if so, how much are they?
Thanks, Toby

Slow worms? Actually, Lozzer, we are in Britain and we have the species Anguis fragilis - aka slow worms. We did buy our four adults here in Britain - they were imported from Europe legally, and we have the confirmation from the importer on which DEFRA-checked shipment they were on - and have done quite a lot of research into the legal issues of keeping British native species.

Anguis fragilis no offense but you should atleast start with a beardie or leo they are much easier to keep, more available and you can get starter kits and books and stuff to help you so check out the leopard gecko forum and if what you want isnt there ask me!

Slow worms? £25 is expensive! I paid £75 for my corn snake and he was only a bootlace! Spose it’s different for lizards. It is illegal to sell slow worms but not to buy them. However they must be F2 (Captive Bred - Both parents being captive born) in order to be sold. It is up to the person doing the selling to prove this and then up to you if you bought them. I’ve never kept a slow worm, but I know about them, I would take the advice that others have given you already and get a leopard gecko or a bearded dragon for starters, good luck anyhow.
