 Are males better than female geckos?

I’ve owned a female gecko for a month. She is about 10 months old. After viewing and handling the males at the Petsmart I wonder if I was better off with a male due to their size and personality. My female gecko and others I read on this forum tend to be nervous and thinner. Any thoughts on this?

I have both. They all have different personalities. My male is very laid-back and calm. Most of my females are "cuddlers". They love to be out of their tanks, and they just love attention. I don’t think I could pick which sex is better. They all have their own unique qualities that make them lovable. I don’t notice that my females are any more nervous than my male. They are definately thinner...but then again, most leos are thinner than Victor LOL

Yeroc62, my male is just like a female! Lol, when he sees me coming, he runs to his hide I’ll pick him up on, and looks up at me! It’s so cute, and he loves being handled . I just thought this was funny =).

my males are all more aggressive than the females, except for the male in with two females....i guess this has a calming effect on him..lol

We have one of each, and the male is very ’dominant’ and climbs around/tries to get away when held. The female however, tends to sit very still and let us hold her. She is younger than the male, maybe that’s why.

My female LG is still very shy and will only come out comfortably when I put the red light on. Funny the way that came out. Thanks for the replies.

My female is so nice and lets me pick her up and hold her and my male is a mean gecko. He freaks out when u walk by. He doesnt like getting held.

My female is actually bigger than my male, a whole lot bigger. She also lets me pick her up more easily and watches what I’m doing when she’s not in her hide.

Now my male is different. Unless he is hungry, or just switching hides, he won’t stay out. He’s smaller than my female, but a good size. He’s also more squirmy than her too and will do anything to escape the clutches of hands. Gols.

I can’t say I would be able to pick between the sexes. They have personalities just like humans do. =)

you know over all it sounds like the females are more accepting of people, i have 2 babies and i don’t know if there boy’s or girls
but one of them will climb in my hand and up my arm when i’m cleaning the tank or feeding, and the other one runs and hides, when i try to pick citrus up he/she screams at me and then is all squirmy so maybe the one who likes to be handled is a girl and the one how hides is a boy?what do you think?
