 Rescued Iguana

I have an iguana that I am trying to find a rescue for. It breaks my heart to do so, but I just can’t give him what he needs. I would love for him to find a home where he can live out the rest of his days in happiness. He is pretty old, I have had him about a year and the owners that had him before me (family friend) owned him for about 10 years. They said he was full grown when they got him so he’s pushing it as far as age goes.
His previous owners gave him to me because a couple years ago when it froze really bad, he almost died. They kept him outside but they didn’t have any kid of heaters besides a rock heater and he got dangerously cold. When they went outside to check on him the next morning, he wasn’t responsive. A couple days later, he lost a bunch of toes and then part of his tail. So, now all the toes on one of his back feet are gone. I think the only foot he has all his toes on is the left front. He is missing about a foot of his tail, possibly more.
The reason I am trying to find him a home is, I can’t give him what he deserves right now. He is in a pretty small cage as far as iguanas go and I was hoping to have enough money to build him a much bigger one but I just can’t come up with the extra cash right now. My grandfather is in the hospital and I’m starting school next month so I just don’t have the means to keep him. Like I said, it breaks my heart. I sit by his cage everyday and talk to him. He isn’t very people friendly but I love him. He will let certain people pet him IF he is used to you. I spent 2 months trying to get him to trust me when I first got him. Now, he will let me hand feed him and pet him but I can’t hold him. He has smacked me numerous times with his tail in protest of me being too close so I stopped trying to pick him up.
He is also pretty picky about what he eats. He was on collard greens and pelleted iguana food at his last home so I’ve been trying to get him introduced to more veggies but I haven’t had much luck. I was told that because of his age, it’s harder to keep weight on him. I make sure he always has enough food and he usually has some left over but he still looks kinda skinny to me.
Please let me know if you could make arrangements for this guy. His name is Louie and I love him dearly, I want him to go to the best home I can find where he can live out the rest of his years. You will need your own cage because I promised I would give the cage back to my family friend if I were to ever rehome Louie. You also have to know how to handle Iguanas. This guy is big and his attitude can come through when he doesn’t get the respect he knows he deserves.
