 How long?

My rat snake got out of it’s tank on July 2. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find him. I left pinkie mice on a paper plate in my floor to try to get him to come out, but it didn’t work. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long he could live if I wasn’t feeding him?

Months! They’ll feed on spiders and things. Look at the stories in this forum. Some people have been reunited with their snake after weeks or longer. Don’t give up yet!

Try leaving a pinkie in a few plastic bottles (the snake will eat the pinkie then get trapped in the bottle as it’ll be too fat to get back out) and then chop up a mouse in to little bits and leave bits around and about the bottles (to whaft the smell about so the snake can smell it). Leave some water out too since the lack of water will be the most likely reason your snake won’t survive. Keep doing this for a few weeks, and hopefully you’ll find your snake.

My Ashley escaped when I was on honeymoon. After five days on the run I eventually caught her using the method I describe above.

Good luck.

Rx.
