Well, I breed both. I clean out the cages every 2 or 3 days, so I’m not sure which is less smelly. As far as nutritional value for your snake I have heard from many breeders that rats are better. I feed rat pinkies to my 3’ Sinaloan rather than adult mice.

IMO, A mouse and rat pink of the same size... the mouse, since it is eating solid food, will have a higher calcium and other vitamins ratio than the same weight rat pup.
A mouse urinates constantly everywhere it goes, leaving a trail of pee. Rats don’t. Mice stink way worse than their larger cousins.

I breed rodents and my mice arent as messy and smelly as my rats are. But either way your going to have to clean the cages every few days so its just whatever you prefer.

I say mice are smellier...but I have only bred rats. The pee just smells worse, IMO.

I raise rats and I have been doing it now for almost 2 years.Mice stink worst I tried both and I stuck with rats.new born or day old rats are the size of hopper mice. I have 5 males and 9 females,I just put down 45 rats and 15 pinkie rats,now I have 25 pinkies, 7 hoppersand 5 juvies,man what a money saver they are.and with all of these rats I change there cages every 3 to 4 weeks.got another person on the internet with rats to get rid if and I’ll get them for no one here wants a pet rat.I just picked up 1 female and 10 juvies free,man I need milk snake friends here.
