 Sinaloan milksnake

Well, I can give you some basic info and if you still have questions, just ask.

The Sinaloan milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum sinaloae) is native to the Sinaloan desert of Mexico. It is a moderate size (average adult size 4 feet) opportunist hunting down any kind of prey animal appropriate size, such as lizards, snakes, birds, frogs and small mammals. Although this snake comes from a desert region, it needs pretty high humidity level, around 50%RH, since it is never found in dry areas of the desert. It’s habitat is river slopes and valleys. It is a nocturnal species, mainly a ground dweller, but it can climb pretty good if needed. This milksnake keeps it’s bright color better than most of the 25 subspecies to the milksnake species when getting older.

I keep five sinaloans at this time, one extremely large male at 60-62 inches and weighing about 3 lbs, the other more normal size. I choose to keep them on a substrate consisting of peat moss mixed up with sand and som dry fern leaf clippings on top aking the ground look a bit like the forrest floor. I use cork hides and a lot of branches, a couple of rock pieces and some plastic plants. A very large water bowl so they can soak their whole body in it. I have a simple low energy bulb for light and a 12 watt UTH mat for heat, covering 1/5 of the bottom of the tank.

Now, if you want more specific information, as i said - just ask and i’ll answer the best way I know how.

This is my huge male, he’s 7 years old.

This is my latest sinaloan, female, born 2007
