 Feedin times and growth rate

You should babies every 4-5 days. Usually you would feed them every 5-7 days after they are 1 year old. But its fine to go over that first year mark on feeding them that often by a little while, but you feed adults normally every week. If fed correctly, say a Nelson’s would reach 1-2 feet in their first year. You could house a baby Nelson’s, (or any baby Milk really) just fine in a 10 gal. tank, or an equal in size tub. I suggest using tubs, they are cheaper, they keep humudity better, and hold heat better than glass tanks. A sub-adult to adult Nelson’s should be housed in a 20-30 gal. size tub, (depending on what sex). Sorry I can’t tell you how big the tub should be in quarts, lol, I’m more familiar with gallons. But of course other subspecies get bigger/smaller than Nelson’s so they require bigger/smaller size tub/tank. Candy_Corn, Peter54, and Alligater, (others also, I’m just naming off a few, not trying to insult anybody other than them) can give you excellent advice, very knowledgeable people there. Anywoo, hope this helps!

You could feed babies every 2 weeks but it would be better as milkyking said 5 to 7 days and as far as growth on thier first year if fed properly can get aleast more than 2 feet if fed good most of the time they get bigger then 1 foot. But this is just my input.

Have a good one!

 Feedin times and growth rate

We have a 20 gallon long tank that is 30x12x12. (30 in long, 12 in wide, 12 in tall) Our 5 month old pueblan is about 10-11 inches long and can climb about 2/3 the way up the sides!

With this size tank, we can have a great ambient temp. 80ish on the cool end, almost 100 on the hot end after feeding, which he did tonight. He was roaming around and tunneling around the aspen in the hot zone just about an hour ago...so he likes it hot after feeding. When he’s warm enough to digest he has a wide range of temp options because of the size of the tank. The only down side is I fear the large size may be making him feel less secure when we are in his space. Some herp specialist say to start with a small vivarium and get a bigger one when they outgrow it.
