Milke snake differs on the spieshes I can spell. But his nelson should get any where from 4 to 6 feet I have seen a few 6 footer on kingsnake.com and his pueblan should get about 3 feet.I have an adult since he was a baby and hes right at 3 foot.

Have a good one!

First of all, there is just one species of milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum). The species is then devided in 25 different subspecies. MilkY_king’s pics shows a Nelsons milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum nelsoni), average adult size 52 inches, occassionally up to 64 inches. The second is a Pueblan milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum campbelli), average adult size 36 inches, occassionally up to 44 inches. Both of these milksnake subspecies originate from Mexico.

Milksnake sizes vary a lot. The Scarlet kingsnake (Lampropeltis triangulum elapsoides) grow to 20 inches, while the Black milksnake (Lampropektis triangulum gaigeae) grow up to 6 feet+.

Not trying to make anybody mad, but Peter kindof just repeated what Dillan said, besides the part on the subspecies and species.

Quote:

MilkY_king’s pics shows a Nelson’s milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum nelsoni), average adult size 52 inches, occassionally up to 64 inches.

Dillan had already said that. He said that they get 4-6 feet, which is around 52-64 inches.

Quote:

The second is a Pueblan milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum campelli), average adult size 36 inches, occassionally up to 44 inches.

He had already said that too, 36inches=3 feet. He said both of the explanations differently, but it had the same meaning. So Alligater said that Peter had the correct explanation when they really both said the same thing.

And P.S. Peter you spell really well in English for that to be your second language. And Alligater, congrats on the eggs soon to be hatching out, can’t wait to see baby pics!

Well I did see the post from DillanSim, but I interpretated it more like guessing than stating facts. For example you will never find a 6 foot Nelsons and most captive Pueblans reach 40 inches or more.

About spelling: Well thanks. I try my best spelling skills knowing that I will never get some things completely right and by spelling good people probably have a better chance understanding what I’m getting at. A hard-to-understand expression from my part would be even harder to understand if I misspelled my writing too.

You need not get offensive and attack me like it’s a war declaration. I stated how I interpretated what you posted, I said nothing about your knowledge. A six foot Nelsons is still to be seen, I don’t believe in that until I get reliable proof. Very few milksnakes ever reach the six foot mark, and usually only the Central- and South American subspecies get close to that size.

I’m not trying to say I know everything, but I have some experience having kept and bred a lot of milksnakes since the early 80ies. I know that there always will be one or two exceptionally large specimen around, especially within the captive bred bloodlines, heck I own one myself, a 64-66 inch male Sinaloan, but you know - that’s still pretty far from six feet and I sincerely doubt that he will ever reach that length.
