Heres my newest snake addition, an albino honduran milk. I fell in love with her when I saw her. We named her Olivia. The pic isn’t that great, but oh well.

i love the albinos, but the ghost are pretty too. i was hoping to maybe try and breed her but i don’t know if i can breed her to my pueblan. not sure if you can mix species of milks or if they are able to interbreed. she and my pueblan won’t be ready to breed for a while though anyways, so i have time to research it.

That picture is a albino nelson not a honduran if I spelled that right.

Have a good one!

The most absolute sign for a Honduran is the two white stripes on the head, one across the nose and a slightly V-shaped one behind the eyes. Of course on an albino these white bands get yellowish. This is definitely a Honduran. Nelsons have a white snout, but never two white bands across the head.

If this snake would have been an albino, it would have looked just the same as the one on the pic above.

Have to add that not only is Herpsarelife’s snake an albino Honduran but also a hypo amelanistic albino Honduran.

I thought you said not to be rude?

About the snake on the first pic in this thread: Here you have a clear case, just look att the head banding and nobody with the knowledge of milksnakes you claim to have (you said I could ask you for any advice on milksnakes) could ever mistake this snake for a Nelsons, simply because it has the special caracteristics of a Honduran = double head banding, wich never occurs on a Nelsons milksnake.

Just a question, how can you tell if a milksnake is a Nelsons?

i just know what was told to me at the pet store. i tried to look at pics but it’s so hard for me to tell. she does have the band along the tip of the nose and the back of the head, so if only hondurans have that then she is def a honduran, so i’m just gonna go with that i think. but it anyone has other info i would be interested in hearing it. i’m always interested in learning more.

All milksnake subspecies have their own very specific caracteristics. The only milksnake that you can mistake a Nelsons for is the Sinaloan. However, Sinaloans have narrower black rings and usually a little wider red bands than Nelsons milks have. Also, on a Nelsons milk the black rings tend to widen some on the back wich they don’t do on a sinaloan.

Herpsarelife
Hondurans are not the only milksnake subspecies with two light bands on the head, but Nelsons never have it.
The other subspecies that do have double head bands are the South American subspecies and they are not available in all different color morphs as Hondurans and Nelsons.
