Yeh, your posting it in the right place. The Scarlet King Snake is actually a milk snake. I’ve heard they are dificult to keep and if they go off feed its extremely hard to get them back on. But thats just what I heard.

I think that Gottee Guy is referring to the small burrowing species Scarlet snake (Cemophora coccinea) growing to about 20 inches.

 Scarlet snake

In S.C. I have seen a lot of them, and like Peter stated they are small, all the ones I have seen have been 12 to 18 inches and have been a gamewarden and in the pest control for 17 years and caught snakes all my life and I would have said they never get to 24 inches. That is another snake people think they have a coral snake and kill it not knowing what they really have.Great find

 Scarlet snake

Scarlet snakes aren’t very common in captivity because they feed almost exclsively on reptile eggs. I suppose you could keep some crested geckos or something around to keep them supplied with eggs, but they’re so similar to other snakes that do just fine on rodents that nobody really bothers to.
I’ve also heard of them drinking raw chicken eggs, but it doesn’t sound like a good idea. Getting open yolk onto their faces would probably encourage mouth rot, and factory-produced bird eggs are a lot higher in cholesterol than even free-range bird eggs, much less reptile eggs. I’d think it would be more of a temporary trick while getting some reptilian egg-producers esatablished. And still, like I said, an awful lot of trouble to go through as opposed to just feeding a scarlet kingsnake some fuzzies.
