 Trying a new incubator

I wanted to try a new kind of incubator system and it might not be new to y’all, but with all the eggs she layed,I needed the room and so far so good. The temp is constant, want it low for females.I mixed in a Little aspen with the vermiculite,it’s about 3 inches deep,a quart mason jar with water and a preset heater and a heating pad under the tank set at 84 dregs..A small crack at the top to vent. The eggs still have the leathery touch and have the full oval shapes

Alligater, that looks good. Do you lose much heat through the top?

We’re using incubators that my husband made with igloo coolers following directions given in Reptiles magazine. So far they are working well. We’ve sucessfully hatched out 2 clutches of balls and 1 (in a second incubator due to different temp requirements) of kings. There are 2 corn snake clutches still in the incubator.

The thing I like about yours is that you can see the eggs without taking off the top. It about drove me crazy to leave them alone while they were pipping!

if you look closly you can see a one inch opening so it can air and let out moisture, its been 3 weeks so far and things are looking good on how its working.
