 I want 2 get a milk snake

Hi i wanted to get a milksnake and i was wondering if they will die if they dont have a heat pad or lamp.can they live on room temp? I can get them a heat pad but i wanted to no if they could survive without one? Also can they eat pinkies on a consistant basis or do they have to have a diet just on frozen rodent?

Many of our 100 snakes are on only room temp during the summer. Since our house stays at a constant 78 degrees, we decided to give that a try this year. In the winter, we will probably plug the pads back in, as we don’t keep the house warm enough then.

As for your second question, pinkies are rodents. They are just the smallest mice, then the snakes move up to larger ones as they grow. And when people say they use frozen rodents, they don’t actually mean they feed them to the snake frozen. The rodents are thawed and warmed before feeding.

I leave them on room temp with no heat source in the summer, and it stays about 80 degrees in the warm end and 75 in the cool.
