Milk Snake Not Eating. This is my first snake. The pet store claims he is a tangerine milk snake. they also claim he is around two, but he seems sort of small compared to some pictures i’ve seen. He was on a weekly feeding schedule at the store of fuzzies and the next size up. this is the third feeding he’s missed. His tank is in the hall, not a ton of traffic, but the light is on all night for the kids. I’ve started covering the tank with a sheet and having a normal day night cycle, but he still hasn’t eaten. Nor have i noticed him defecating. And for his behavior, the kids call him Bitey. Personally, the fuzzies look too big to me. Thanks for your help.

Milk Snake Not Eating.
Could you show a pic of his enclosure, where his enclosure is, and "Bitey" if at all possible? 3 weeks is almost nothing for a snake not to eat. Just try to show some pics if you can, it would make it a heck of alot easier to give advice off those.

Milk Snake Not Eating. Basics 101... does he have heat? a hide? water? These three main things would have as much to do with his inclination to eat as is the food item...has he been eating only live, and are you attempting to give him frozen thawed? While most hondurans take readily to f/thawed, some few are holdouts for live.
How big is he lengthwise? Girthwise? How often did he eat at the store? Did you ever see him eat before buying him? These will pretty well help diagnose the problem.

Milk Snake Not Eating. Thanks for the reply, he has shed, but that was after five weeks no food. and he still hasn’t eaten. He has the fluffy wood shavings just like he did at the store, a heat lamp and a pad ( stuck to the side of the tank?) and a fake cave, a fake log, a water dish like the one in the pet store, and a fake rock dish i throw the frozen mice in. He ate well at the store, at least according to the clerks. He was in his water dish all the time, but isn’t now that i’ve bought him. I never see him. Have to dig through the shavings to find him. His tank is also feces free. His tank is in a quiet hall, but the over head light is on all night, (my son sleep walks) and i’ve started to cover it with a sheet. At the store he ate frozen fuzzies, should i try live? Or pinkies? thanks
