Any Experiences with a Milk Snake Bite

Hi.

I will be using my Pueblan Milk Snake in my classroom at school. He has never bitten me. He has never shown any inclination to bite anything. In fact, on occasion while handling him I’ve tried irritating him.... touching his nose (which he hates)... moving my hand quickly past his face, etc... to see if he will bite. So far, so good.

That being said, he is a snake, and it is likely that sooner or later he will bite somebody for some reason ony he will understand.

I want to know what I can expect. What sort of bite and pain would a bite from this breed give?

(I’ve been bitten by a 5’ boa, and although I nearly smiley my pants, the bite was only minimally painful.)

You’d hardly feel a bite from a milksnake. I always tell people it feels almost like getting a sand spur on them. It’s the strike that bothers me more than the bite. And it doesn’t hurt either. I just hate the idea of the strike, I suppose.

Looking at my original post, I know I didn’t "smiley" my pants. And that’s not what I typed! LOL

I’m like you ,I have a 7 ft red tail and have been bitten twice on the hand and yes it’s not the bite that hurts,it’s the strike and hit that’s scares you.My self there was no pain, she hit and released done, had to remember don’t jerk that’s were you do the most damage.Big remember this, you are liable for your snake, there is always that slight chance 1 in a billion some one could get really stupid and get bit. LAWYER.. IF I WAS YOU, DON’T LET ANYONE HOLD IT...let them touch, now days someone would sue you for the the dumbest reason.

Alligater, like you, I was bitten by Ziggy, who is now almost 8 feet. I was putting the top on his cage and I guess he didn’t like my arm in his way. He got me on the underside of my forearm and it was so fast there was really no time to react. The boas are sooo fast! There were only specks of blood just like a king or milk bite, but he left me with a bruise about 6" across. I felt like I’d been hit by a baseball bat, the little snot!
