Adult Pueblan Length YOU have Witnessed

Hi. I’ve become a little frustrated with the internet while trying to get a good read on how large my pueblan milk might possibly grow. I have found (what look like) reliable sources ranging from "maximum" growth of 22" to a "maximum" growth of 56".

What is the LARGEST pueblan milk YOU have seen?

Thanks.

I have owned a lot of adult Pueblans and I have seen a lot of them at shows and in my friends collections. I can honestly say that I have never seen a Pueblan over 42 inches. They hardly grow over 36 inches in the wild though.

Thank you.

Since you have owned a lot, perhaps you could answer this one. My pueblan is an apricot. So far he only shows the "apricot" colorings in his last three light bands. All the others are an off white. Will the orange become more apparent as he ages? At what age? Or is that very much dependent on the individual snake.

Thanks again.

No he most likely will not change, and if he does it will be towards being even duller. I would guess that your apricot is a mix between an apricot and an ordinary colored Pueblan. That mix will often result in weak apricot coloration. I too have got one of that kind and she too is a bit weak in her apricot color.

Italian breeders seem to have the strongest orange coloration in their apricots, but i have seen some quite amazingly strong colored American specimen too. This is a recent pic of my apricot, not that strong in color.

Yes, that is pretty much exactly what mine looks like. What I was told by the SALESperson is that as he matured and shed, all the light rings would take on the color of those last few. Like mine, yours as the orange in the last three segments.

Well, if you don’t mind me saying so, I think that the salesperson is full of crap. Color is always stronger when these guys are small, it fades and get duller with age.

However, the animal has the genetic setup for true apricot colors, so if you breed the animal with another apricot, you will get a few very nice young.

That’s a beautiful apricot. Pueblans always fade out with age, often because black eventually will interfere with the lighter colored banding. However, being this bright as a juvenile ensures better color even when old.
