 Baby Milk Snake Encounter

When I was mowing my lawn today I noticed the little guy to the right of the mower. I went to it and gently picked it up. It had to be 6" to 8" at most. Just a tiny thing. I knew it was a Milk Snake from the Y on it’s head. It was much less scared than I thought it would be. Perhaps it knew I meant it no harm. I walked across the street to show my stepfather and I thought he was going to have a heart attack when he saw it. Anyway, I don’t have a digital camera or I would have posted a picture. The snake’s colors were amazingly vivid. After a few minutes I let him go in the weeds. I think he might be the offspring of one I met earlier in the year when I opened the outside basement door and he was right in front of me. Needless to say, he or she startled me as it was about forty quadrillion times larger than the one from today. LOL. Anyway, I thought I would post about the little guy. He was kind of neat. Take care.

 Baby Milk Snake Encounter

When caught young, the Eastern Milk snake can make an awesome pet. I had one that just died recently. When I rescued her from the cat she was about the same size as the one you let go. I nursed her back to health (the cat had wounded her a few times), and kept her for over 12 years. I believe she may have died from old age since she was otherwise in good health.
