Does anyone use those flexi-tanks with their mons?

The fibre enclosures? The ones that are quite good for Chameleons.
I would imagine monitors could quite easily tear them. Although they are pretty strong fibres.
Anyways, I was thinking about getting a monitor. I read a book on the more common monitors in the pet trade. Naturally the one I liked was damn well expencive (I think they it said they fetch around $900). A Emerald Tree Monitor.

WEll to my point. Those flexi-enclosers can be 7ft high 4ft long and 4 ft wide (approx.) which would be a good size for a single Emerald Tree Mon? Or have I got the math wrong. Anyways, please post.

Do you mean those screen reptariums? I would recommend trying to stay away from them, they can be difficult to see into and I can easily see a monitor injuring his claws in the screen.
Also, Varanus prasinus (green tree monitors) need pretty high humidity, and it would be difficult to keep the humidity high enough in a screen enclosure of the size they need.
That would be an excellent enclosure size for a pair of V. prasinus.
One more thing I’d like to add: this species is still pretty uncommon in captivity, due to being difficult to care for and breed. So, definitely get something else until you have a lot more monitor experience. V. acanthurus (ackies, or spiny-tailed monitor) make great first monitors: they are relatively easy to care for and relatively calm. If you must get V. prasinus, do TONS of research, and get a pair to try to breed them.

I was thinking about how to keep a good humidity in those things. Its fairly easy to get clear rubber. You know the thich stuff that does over pet doors sometimes? But yeah, too many restrictions with those things.
I quess I should start with a yellow Ackie. I know their are a couple for sale in Edinburgh, I’ll see how much they are. But I presume around £200.
Thanks for your help.

the varanus species have extremely powerful limbs, and a sharp set of claws that comes with it.they could easily rip a flex open. unless you go a really small species e.g varanus kingorum(king monitor) which only reaches an average of 40cm and are pretty hard to get hold of.
