Hello,

Not to sound rude, judging from your screen top set ups and most likely lack of experience that particular monitor probably wouldn’t be the best choice for your first. Do you have any idea how expensive they are? Most of what I have seen have been going for $1,000 - $1,600 a piece. Not to mention enclosure cost and supplies, Plus food? I would highly recommend just looking into those details a bit by looking through the forum here. Check out enclosure cost, maintenance cost, food cost, electrical cost just to name a few. Judging by your pictures you still live with your parents and are fairly young. Do they know what your wanting to bring into Their home? Can they deal with having to pay for all it’s needs and help you build an enclosure correctly? I’d look more into these type of questions and ask yourself if you can honestly meet every requirement. I’m not trying to put you down but I really don’t think you’ve thought those little details through too much.

If you don’t know where to get one the chances of you having any monitor experience is slim. If you want some good starter monitors, I’d be happy to lead you in the right direction.

Just wondering, is your only experience with reptiles a corn snake? If so monitors are sure as hell not for you no disrespect or anything!

I have owned a pair for awhile now. Just getting them to feed regularly is an everyday chore, not to mention keeping the correct humidity, cleaning cages all the time, and trying to get them to overcome their natural skittish behavior. Definitely not for a beginner.
