 Sad Day.

So about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago my Croc stopped eating, which I thought happened because I tinkered in the cage the day before. But about 2 days after that I noticed she was on the floor of the cage, which I passed off because she sometimes does that. The day after that I noticed something was way off, she wasn’t moving normally, so I decided to take a closer look. She couldn’t move her back legs well (there was movement, but not enough to use them). So I immediately called the vet and the earliest they could see her, was yesterday. So, I took her in and they she had a bacterial infection (which stemmed from lesions in her mouth that I didn’t see) and was quite sick. So, they gave me some shots for her, and gave her one at the vets office. Well, today she died. I appreciate all your help with her over the past how long. I believe I need to listen to my monitor’s more/better.

Cheers,
Ryan

My condolences to you, as I know what it’s like to lose a monitor. It freaking sucks!

Ryan, I’m so sorry to hear that. It would have been almost impossible for anyone to spot something like that, as monitors often stop eating. I doubt anyone goes and looks inside their mouths to see why, esp’ a Croc! Hopefully, this will make us all listen to our monitors more closely.
Take care.

Very sorry to hear of your loss Ryan. Hopefully it’s been a learning experience for you. Even though it sucks, things of this nature can teach us quite a bit.

I agree whole heartedly Roger, it has taught me a lot, and Sd’s your are dead on it has taught me to listen more closely to them. I am hoping to maybe pin her bones together or something (like the dinosaurs at the museum), I think that would be a really cool thing to do.

When Guan (I think that’s his name) found the skeleton of a dead monitor, I asked if he was thinking of doing that. He didn’t have all the bones though, and thought it would be very difficult.
I think it would make a very interesting project, for someone with a LOT of patience!
Way better than cremation where you only have dust.

Sdslancs

I pretty sure you could just find someone that could do it. It might be alot of $. But it might be worth it.

Sorry to hear about the death. At least some knowledge and memories came from the monitor.

Slowmo- It’s got me thinking now. The skeleton is already perfect, just have to clean it. Ants?? Beetles? Some kind of chemical?
Not being morbid, just curious if anyone knows? It would be a cool thing to have.

Yes A chemical you could use is lye. It cleans the bones very well if you mix it with water. Just but your croc in there and it will just eat away at it everything but the bones. All i have to say is be very care-full with it because if it gets on any part of your boby it will be the worst burm you have ever had.
