Savannah moniters and Dwarf Moniter question

I am pretty sure I can fit a full size adult ackie in a 175 gallon but could I fit a adult savannah in there?

If not i will probably just go for a ackie but if I can I would like a Sav because they are not that expensive. I have lights and stuff that I want to use and I am pretty sure I can probably get away with my reptilerium with it for a while and change it out or enchance it.

I am no expert or anything but most people try to stay away from aquariums. There is just not much you can do with them when it comes to settting it up correctly unless they are hatchlings.

um first off you dont just use lights you have cause you want to and 175 gallons cage made of wood is good mine is i think 178 gallons and its 4x2x3 and i use it for my ackie and no to a savannah in 175 gallons cause its to small and no savnnah monitors are not cheap . in the long run a sav will be alot of money and as i can tell you have never owned a monitor befor cause you can’t even spell monitor right so ya go for an ackie monitor

Savannah monitors and Dwarf Monitor question

whats the dimensions

anything glass or Plexiglass ya run into temp and humidity issues i.e ya get the thing hot enough for reach the right temps and your gonna cause rainstorms in some cases (i have my Nile in a 125 gallon tank and if I’m not careful it will rain in the tank(not quite rain but all 4 walls will have a solid sheet of condensation on it to the point ya cant see in at any place). Another problem with these kinds of enclosures is they tend to turn into hot boxes.

another big issue would be height ya are looking at needing either way around 2 feet of substrate for burrowing most complementary stands can support the weight of a tank full of water so ya wouldn’t have a issue there i would think less ya had like tons of slate rock or something else really heavy sides all the dirt. along with the height problem comes escape most if not all critters housed in cages try to get out.

and lastly space usage(this one still is kicking my butt) large prefabricated cages are generally long and not to wide and have no way to really utilize wall space (cant really affix much to glass as far as climbing basking shelves etc).

ya can use em for a short term house but i would suggest getting plans together for a custom built cage for a sav or some ackies though i would think that what Shay_ posted here as far as building plans would house either comfortably if ya went the ackie route ya could probably fit a trio in a 8 by 4 by 6 cage as long as ya filled it up with stuff to climb hide and run around on.

Post some pics of your monitor and maybe we can tell you (include head, and vent shots).

Unlock your caps, and use punctuation.
Being the same species guarentees nothing.
Placing two monitors together is guessing game.
You must have a back up cage just in case.
Yes, please post pics.

Savannah moniters and Dwarf Moniter question

you keep a baby savannah monitor in there for a while but i suggest at the very least a 6’x3’x3’ cage. i have a baby savannah monitor in a 45 gallon rubbermaid tub for the time being, and im going to upgrade him to a 4’x3’x2.5’ cage asap.
