Here are some names of monitors I do not see alot of CB.

Blue tail M.
Savannah M.
cape White Throat M.
Mangrove M.
Black throat M.
Nile M.
Ornate M.
crocodile M.
Iran desert M.


And so many others. The whole reason of this thread is that newbies stay away from these unless you will try to breed. I am trying myself to breed ornate monitor, Black throat monitor, and the mangrove monitor.

You won’t ever see many V. griseus (Desert Monitors) being bred (or at least advertised). They are CITES 1 listed and it’s illegal to move them across state lines. You’ll notice the few for sale here and there have very strict "in-state only" disclaimers on them. A couple people in California are breeding them now and then.

I knew that was the one monitor that I will never see being breed. Can you give me a reason that people are not trying to breed the monitors they buy.

Most if not call Cape Whitethroat Monitors (aka Banded Whitethroats) are captive bred.

Why are none of these animals you’ve listed bred regularly? Since all you’ve listed have been bred.
One reason is money... You have to spend more to breed them than you’ll get out of it.
Another space, means, and demand all those are cheap WC animals.
