well after 3 days i finally finished the new 8x4x4 for refrence the window is 6x3 1/4 inch plexi glass (the most expensive thing on there) and put toki inside he seems fairly scared but crawled up and basked for me a little until he realized i was taking pictures of him then he tried to hide behind the plant i have on his basking shelf which i will soon have covered in bark and a few more plants.
well pictures are worth a thousand words hope you like it there is about 8 inches of dirt i need about 4 more bags of soil and 3 more of play sand but i was running low on money today

I wouldn’t worry about more dirt.
Dump a bunch of leaf litter in there with some pillbugs (rollie pollies for my redneck friends) and some nightcrawlers.
I would also move the water tub closer to the door for easy changes.
Once all that was done, I’d start working on it’s next cage.

thanks scott im gonna wait a little bit before starting the new cage since he still is not even 2 feet after he hits around 36 inches then ill start on his 6x12 or larger cage i need to start drawing out the ideas for sizes and what not
and im still waiting for the trees to leaf up hopefully only a few more days

How are you heating it? I could only see one lamp above the basking spot. Looks like you have it coming through a screen? Just wondering the wattage you’re using to heat that size cage, or if you have another heat source?

Hey guys,

I’m sorry but is the dimensions for the enclosure you typed up correct? 8x4x4? I’m guessing Length x Width x Height? There is no way that is 8’ foot long. Just from looks alone that only looks roughly 5’ long if that. No offense but I just don’t see it. The purse or bag sitting on top looks to be a 1’ long and given the other items on top it just don’t add up. When you took the pics of the inside on the left and right it just looks smaller than what you say. Looks more like 5’x2’x2’ or 5’x3’x3’. I mean no offense but just wanted to know.

I could see it being 8 feet long. Its missing about a foot on each side, and he prolly measuring the outside,not the inside.
I think he did a great job.

thanks matt i wont take all the credit tho i had a lot of help from my girlfriends father. The heat is still being done by 2 150 watt bulbs and a 50 watt red bulb that i only turn on at night soon it will be 3 45 watts and 1 more 50 watt red bulb or a 100 watt heat emitter to keep the cage at a better temp.
he actually seem to be braver already basking all the time running around the enclosure and bashing the window trying to get out. i am going out after work tonight looking for more hides and maybe another log or to and some bark to cover the basking shelf.

Instead of waiting for the trees to fill up with leaves I’m pretty sure you can get a big bag or two shipped to you from the KS classifieds for fairly cheap...that way you get mature, dry leaves and don’t have to strip a living tree of its fresh spring leaves.

That’s a pretty good looking enclosure you’ve got on the go there, keep it up!

Agreed. Definitely need a new tape measure. That is not even close to eight foot. Still looks much better than the previous cage and should last for a little longer. Keep up the good work!

This is 8 feet...Big difference!

the window was custom made 6x3 1/4 plexiglas like i said earlier it made by kempenfelt windows here in barrie ON the cage is 8 feet whether you think so or not.
and i cant get anything from ks its an American site i live in Canada you cant ship anything over the border that may contain bugs pesticides blah blah

Take the same picture with a yardstick laying on the ground in front of the cage. That will end all speculation on the cage’s size.
