need to know some good info about these from experienced keepers

Where can you pick a baby up? Never ever seen one in any classified ads or shops. How much would I be looking to pay?

Id rather have a male, and I know when hes an adult he will need a big enclosure e.g. 8 x 5 x 5. What enclosure size would he need for say the first 2 years of his life?

Any help greatly appreciated

Contact krusty he has some for sale still i believe. Youd be best off to build the 8x5x5 right away. They grow fast and use all space provided.

Yer, i wouldnt have the space avaialble for anything more than 3 foot depth and 5 foot long for about 2 years, would this be ok for 2 yrs?

No, thats too way too small for an argus. I would suggest looking into the smaller odatria species (like ackies), and provide them with as large an enclosure as you have room for.

Agreed! This is a good "grow out" cage size. Your adult cage will need to be much larger.

8x4x5 grow out cage




They grow really fast!

Agree with above - Argus grow incredibly fast. They easily hit 3 ft long or more in a year. They are full adult length by 2 years already. Look at a smaller species.

Males approach 5 ft long, so a 10 foot long cage with deep dirt to burrow into is adequate. I keep one in an 8 ft cage when not mating the female, and it’s too small for him I admit.
