 Bosc/Sav Monitor

Im planning on freeing up a bit of space and building a viv, but need to know sizes first

How long do you expect a bosc monitor to be able to live in say a 5 x 3 x 3 viv for? 2 years?? Just need to know measurements for viv size as I won;t have the space for anything bigger than a 5 x 3 x 2 for about 2 yeras until i get my own place

I worked at a pet store for awhile on the weekends and Im not clueless thanks. Most of the problem with pet stores is not the employees its the bosses. They do not want to spend the money to give reptiles the correct setup. I say something and nothing gets changed. So not all of the people who work at pet stores are clueless.

Also you cannot expect them to know everything off the top of their head. There are so many different reptiles out there and different methods. Of course your going to think they are clueless when you think your method is the only method of doing things. Not saying that is about you but when I give advice about geckos which I know quite a bit of info about geckos it can still differ from someone elses and both methods can work. Working at a pet store on the weekends I provide basic information and then tell them to research on the internet.

Some petshops like to trick consumers into thinking they are wrong and that they are right. Thats how they make business. But I know a few shops that do know what they are talking about here in so cal.

Ok may I just state. Dannylatics is in the UK and everything is done differently here. Americans I feel are far more advanced in the monitor world than us brits are (in my opinion) so I tell them "Here ya go try this place" and guess what they get people having a go at them or have a really snotty attitude. Well screw that in future I will let them to stick to the UK methods and might even go back to them myself.

Oh and I would just like to say, albig..I think these pet shop owners are more clued up than you think. How can you be expected to remember every minor detail of every species reptile. So long as they know the basics to pass on what’s it matter? It shouldn’t be all down to the guy behind the till to give out all the info that is needed. People should read up before then keep on reading up after.
