haha, no. It’s the female that has her arm draped over the male. He’s 4 times her weight. They only get all cuddly like this when she becomes receptive. The rest of the time she keeps her distance.

My favorite part is how if the male is just minding his own business, the female will walk by him slowly as if to say, "take a whiff. I’m in heat big boy!" And he will follow her around to start the courting ritual while she "pretends" to be walking away from him. Typical women .... controlling us dumb men with their phermones and appeal. We’re helpless to it!

Look at the size of the front arms and the heads. Adult Argus are very size dimorphic despite not being much different looking otherwise.

So Shay, your pair is mating a few days before mine it seems. Almost a "harem syndrome" from coast to coast. lol

Hi Mike, I assume you’re talking about this succulent that’s been taking a beating as of late. For some reason Blue thinks he can climb this thing



As far as the cute couple is concerned, they’ve been on their honeymoon since Monday. You’re right Krusty, our females seem to be on the same cycle pattern. I believe they both laid eggs on the same day, and now begin their next cycle within a day or two. Good stuff

Shay, great shots for showing the sexual dimorphism - especially the difference in head size and shape! My female lacie is similar when she’s started a cycle and is definitely the initiator in all of their ’trysts’. I have a video of her approaching the male as he lay basking on the kitchen floor, minding his own business. She crawled all over him, under his chin and over his back, until he took an interest, at which point she walked slowly away so he’d follow her to the rug for some lovin’.

You’re going to need a bigger incubator soon!

Thanks Dave. It’s a crack up when she begins to initiate, she does like yours and crawls on him, under his chin and through his legs. His reaction looks as if he’s thinking "what’s going on with this woman?" haha. She then walks away and ends up carrying Red who has hopped on for the ride for another yard or two before she can’t bear the weight anymore and relents.

We (Midwesterners) call them Jade plants and to see one that size is truly AMAZING!
Years ago we vacationed in Long Beach, these were the hedges at the Motel we stayed at.

That’s usually referred to as a "Jade Plant" (Crassula argentea). I have a bunch potted in my front yard. One of my favorites. They like full sunlight, and wouldn’t do well in an indoor cage.

Great pictures of some very good looking monitors! From the side-by-side comparison of head shapes, I’d guess my Argus looks more like your female. I’ll have to take some updated pictures and start a "guessing the sex" thread.
