Haha, you’re right, he does eat like a king and deserves to! He’s a fun guy to ’play’ with;)
As long as you enjoy watching him, I’ll keep making the videos.

Thanks Steve:)

Nice vid Susan, one thing i seem to be noticing is the difference in intelligence levels between the sav & the B/T, the blackthroat seem to be more thought driven as oppose to the savs been instinct driven, caught my blackthroat testing his door tonight angling his claws & placing them into the cracks & trying to lever the sliding door open.

Is this the sort of thing that other people have observed?

Thanks Paul. Glad you like it:)

Mark- I was waiting for you to reveal your findings, with regard to the difference between your savs and BT! I know what you mean about how clever they are, but I don’t have savs to compare mine to.
I had a feeling you’d get a kick out of your new guy. He seems very keen and it looks like you’re bonding well with him:)

Mark-

I wouldn’t necessarily say Albigs are not ’instinct driven’ because.. they are. Not any more or less than a Savannah. They are two different species and they just have different ways of displaying their intelligence (as far as we humans perceive it). About four years ago my Savannah figured out how to open the sliding doors on his enclosure and he remembered from that day on how to position himself and slide the doors open to get out. =) Just yesterday I let him out to free roam for a while and a few minutes later I found him trying to slide the glass doors into my Albigs cage which he had never seen before so he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Susan,
Yes I’m enjoying myself, still using a lure at the current time to get him into position on my arm, but he’s quite happy to rest on my arm whilst eating. He’s usually waiting for me nowadays, he knows i bring the food & his feeding response has increased over the last week or so, but shows no interest in my fingers etc, going well so far thank you.

Varanus_odom,
The B/T seems to put more thought process into his actions & seems to learn quicker, but having said this i have no previous knowledge of 3 out of the 5 monitors that i have/are caring for, so what I’m seeing could be more down to the monitors previous environmental circumstances.
