Wow,,,,Great looking specimen Steve man, really really nice and full credit to you. Whats her demeanor like btw?

My small boy/girl is very shy and bolts for cover every time I enter the room. Tried to handle it (only a couple of times mind you) and it caught me and gave me a nasty thumb wound. I just leave it be now in the hope that it will come somewhat good in time.

Any pointers of advice welcomed.

How has it been with the coupling,Steve? Are the waters keeping along through the wire?

Hi , they have been pretty good through the wire with each other and now seem to just accept each other so in the spring i will take down the mesh and see how things pan out , i will also be observing them for a full day at the ready in case of trouble :0

Hi , cheers she has a really amicable laid back demeanor and will come over to me whether i have food or not and uses me as a climbing frame , i have never handled her i have let her come over to me , i have also found the older/larger they get the bolder more interactive they get , whether or not this mirrors there wild bretheren as in so much as the small/younger water monitors are mostly found in trees and it’s not untill they are larger that they come down to ground level when there confident of not being taken for a snack by there larger kin

Hi , yep she has laid 3 or 4 clutches so far with no problem of egg retention but unfortunatly the only male i had access to at the time was only half her size and probably 4 times her weight but im getting there now as he is starting to catch up size wise so 2010 will be the big introduction year

Jody - she has a curvy lower jaw and tall tail on profile. I thought the same thing, but eggs come out of her. LOL Gorgeous Salvator, Stephen. Best of luck pairing her off in 2010!

Yep that is why I asked. I have had female salvators with the curvy lower jaw so it doesn’t really suprise me that much. Just had to ask after seeing the pics I would of guessed wrongly thats for sure.

I see what you both mean , i suppose it never crossed my mind really as iv had her from when she was around 15" and had the 4 x clutches from her , and yep her lower jawline appears quite curved in the photo , would this be from a specific local or do certain mature females show this trait together with the high tailcrest? from a few area’s

Good question and as I am thinking about it, I believe the females I had with the more curved jaw all were of the same local type. Which yours appears to also be. Of course with each female your going to have differences but I am talking the cases that can be mis leading like in your photo.
