I may end up with a V. Becarii, any advice? So, a loser in my community puts up posters rehoming his black tree monitor. $200 obo it said a month ago. Now on a few of the posters it says free for the first person who can take it. I email him and ask whats wrong with it, he said nothing. I went and checked it out and it seemed completely healthy besides an obvious bad shed going on its back. It acted just like a normal monitor, and it had a good weight. The monitor is around 40 inches and is female. He tried to tell me it was cb and if I handled it more often it would tame down that kind of stuff blah blah. I told him I would take it if no one better would. When I said that he explained he is getting rid of it because he claimed bankrupcy and is moving. He said by the end of the week if he still has it he is going to let it go in the woods, because "its the summer it will be fine". So basically I am probably going to end up with this monitor. I was not looking for another monitor, but I guess I found one. All I have extra as an enclosure is a 2ftx 18inchx 18inch exo terra tank. For temp housing while I have it would a large sterlite tub be better? Can anyone list good basking temps and humidity? Just for temp until I can build a forever cage, unless I can find a proper home for it by then.

I may end up with a V. Becarii, any advice? He says its a female but he said his breeder he got it from told him that which is obvious bs, based from the head female seemed right. I wouldnt be able to tell very surely unless I saw another one of opposite sex right next to it. I Only have one monitor, i’m no expert. But I am most likely going to end up with it and when I do I will post pics...

I may end up with a V. Becarii, any advice? Tree Monitors are ridiculously easy to sex. Look up and under like a Bearded Dragon. 2 huge bulges on males and nowhere to hide them on a thin body frame.

I may end up with a V. Becarii, any advice? Thanks Krusty. Maybe it was a male then, because I was checking the vents while checking its health and did notice bulges I have not noticed on other monitors before.
