Argus Sibling Fight and Injury
My other question is how do I prevent this from happening in the future? Do I just chalk this up to a feeding reaction or should I be more conserned about this? He has gone after her one other time that I witnessed but did not injure her. He has a much more voracious feeding response than she does as well. He will attack the food at first sight where as she need the pinkies shaken in front of her face many times before she will take it. Sometime that doesnt even work so I just leave them at the entrance to her burrow for her to eat later. She doesn’t try to fight back either, she just tries to run away. Should I remove one of them from the enclosure during feeding and feed them seperately? Also sometimes she won’t come out from her hides or burrow sometime for feeding and will go days at a time without eating. Should I forcefully remove her from hiding to make sure she is eating?

You could try feeding them completely separated that would definitely prevent it from happening again. My female did something similar for a while where she wouldn’t eat her quail peeps even if I shook them in front of her face. But she did still like roaches so I would drop a few in her nest box and she’d go for them. The wounds will heal fine. |
