Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? Does anybody have a full size (8x4) monitor cage on the second floor of their home with 2 feet of dirt in it? I didn’t think of this at first but I’m thinking that I may have no choice but to make my monitor’s adult home on the 1st floor of my house because 2 feet of dirt in an 8x4 cage is a lot more weight then I had originally thought (I didn’t think about it at all to be honest). I think it ends up being around 3,500+ pounds of dirt give or take which seems like it would be a bad idea to have on the second floor in any house. I wanted to build this enclosure inside my room on the second floor because its generally warmer then it is downstairs but I just don’t think it’s a good idea to do.
Are all of your large monitor enclosures on lower levels in your homes? Thoughts?

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? Kind of sketchy yeah. I live in a single story but I have concrete slab. Keep a designated room downstairs warmer.

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? you can have a contractor come out and check the structure of your home to see if you can put it up stairs shouldnt cost you but maybe 50$-to 100$ to have it done

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? I don’t think it will be as much of an issue to just do it downstairs. Just wanted to know if anybody else had done it upstairs.
Thanks

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? It depends where in the house you wan’t it. Im thinking about moving mine upstairs in my house and putting it wher ther are the most joist in the house to hold it. It could depend on how structurley strong your hosue is.

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? I did a lot of research into this back when I lived at home with my parents- and yes you will probably need to add in support beams somewhere to hold it, because most floors can’t handle that kind of weight.

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? Find out if you’re allowed to have a waterbed. If they say NO due to structural reasons, a cage of dirt will be equally unsafe to crash through to the neighbors downstairs. LOL

Monitor Cage on 2nd Floor? I had looked at a waterbed as something similar in weight to check. The dirt will double the weight of a normal queen size waterbed and most people say not to have an upstairs queen size waterbed so I’m certainly not going to put the cage up here now.
I pictured a hole in the ceiling and over 1 ton of dirt on the floor with a monitor running around wondering what just happened. This made me decide that it’s not worth it to risk it. The enclosure will be just fine down stairs. I won’t get to look at it as much but I’m sure it’s for the best.
