 Roach breeders

After over a year I’m starting to run low on roaches is what it’s appearing guys! My single savannah is chowing and chowing and staying relatively thin! Starting to wonder if I needed to do a separate breeding container.
How have you guys done it?

Ps. Tons of baby’s but fewer and fewer adults.

Ur probably getting rid of all the adult before the nymphs can grow up. Make a bigger colony.

I don’t think nymphs need adults

If your feeding off all your adults, then thats 30 less babies a month. I would stop feeding them those roaches for a month and let your population get back up.

I’m curious if I should do two separate tanks, thoughts?
That is a good point

I only use roaches when I mess up on a holiday weekend and the cricket guy can’t get my order to me until Thursday. LOL I just don’t depend on them. I’m in Florida and can’t get 1,000 Dubias shipped to me here like most states, so I had to rely on finding the "Tampa Roach" (aka Lobsters) feral and slowly building them up. I’m pretty much blowing through 5,000 crickets a month and God knows how many mice and chicks. I sell baby Monitors to pay the feeding bills. :)

yes you should have seperate colonies for your breeders that don’t get fed off
& your feeder stock......

keep your your temps around 90 - 95 degrees farenheit
have a clean water supply/water crystals
keep your egg flats/colony clean from mold/mite infestation
grind up their staple food(cat & dog kibble, Koi pelets etc...) for easier/faster digestion & faster growth(not wasting energy breaking down food items)
feed them veggies every other day & fruit on the days in btwn
for optimum growth...

I raise new born Dubia nymphs to a adult breeder size in just over 3 months
which usually takes 6 months

Jesus Justin! But how many do you own lol?

Thanks rokdog, idea of a setup (pics) would be nice. I haven’t had an issue yet but I may now. What kinds of veggies and fruits do you use?

I have 5,000 dubia female breeders putting out at least 30,000 nymphs a month
and 200 madagascar hisser breeders a much larger roach that make a good meal for savanna’s

mine love apple’s, pears, oranges, carrotts, corn, watermelon, lettuce, dandilion, squash, green beans, cucumbers etc....
