 Baby sav hissing at me.

Well I have been doing the tong method and its worked for being able to lead her onto my hand but today I tried to pick her up and she started hissing and trying to bite. I know that these arent cuddly animals but is there any way to make her understand more that I dont mean her any harm?

Dont pick her up. Simple.

If tong feeding worked, why change it?

A lot of them just simply chill out as they get larger and older. They seem to be less worried about being eaten. I would keep tong-feeding and resist the urge to grab and pick them up too much. It just stresses them out as babies/juveniles.

My albigs hiss like there’s no tomorrow some times if/when they randomly feel threatened by my presence. Just the way they are, but it’s especially when they are young and a bit wet behind the ears. With patience, they grow up and usually become more trusting. I say usually because this is certainly not the case with every individual. Some never trust, even as adults.
