 Dumb Move

So a few weeks back i built a nest box out of three dresser drawers and connected them all with wood glue. Today went to fill it up with dirt and place it in the enclosure. Just felt wrong. Two feet of dirt throughout this entire 8x4 enclosure and putting in a "nest box"?

So i stopped and took it back out. Maybe I have missed some eggs, I dont know. Im going to be patient.
Thanks for hearing my little story that went nowhere haha.

Haha, I did something similar with a modified garbage bin that I ended up throwing out. Your girl should just find a spot somewhere in your deep dirt where conditions are right and pop em out there when she’s ready (hopefully). Good luck!

I buried a large plastic bin in my argus enclosure for use as a nest box. The enclosure is 10x6.5x8 and has 24-30" of substrate. Don’t leave it sitting on the top I understand how that would look funny.
I like giving her the option to lay in a designated location. I already had my female lay in her nest box once and it made searching much easier than worrying about digging up the entire enclosure.
But whatever works for you man.

That’s the thing though, nothing has worked so far, so I need to figure out what works for her!

You can’t really claim "nothing works so far" as you haven’t even ever had her lay eggs - heck, it could be a late-bloomer male there. LOL You need to have her begin laying a few clutches and pay attention to what she likes - build on that in the future as you learn her tendencies. But all-through nesting in a big cage is ALWAYS the best move as it gives her sooooo many more options and allows them to tunnel. The nest box should be a "Plan B" for a lizard known to dig and tunnel so much like a Savannah Monitor.

It’s still a retarded guessing game. There’s no penalty or prize if I’m wrong or right. LOL But yeah, yours looks like a girl to me ....... right now.
