 Change in behaviour ?

I have had my Rudi for 6 years, always with 2ft or more substrate, he/she has never bothered with the soil in the past, usually like to stay in the upper portion of its cage, the last week however he/she has been digging all over the place, what could explain this change in behaviour after 6 years?
re-checked the temps/humidity and they have no changed...

 Change in behaviour ?

Maybe she is looking to lay eggs. Maybe he’s bored.

there has been no weight gain or anything, so i doubt eggs, i just thought it was weird after 6 years of climbing around to suddenly start digging

6 year old female? Never laid infertile eggs?
Unless you just haven’t dug around looking for eggs, I’d say male based off that.

my rudi only recently started digging in his enclosure, but just digs holes never any tunnels or anything and there is 2ft of substrate.. normally it stays in the top half of his enclosure.. but he wont bulk up like males tend to so i am not sure

It would not surprise me at all that a 6 year old Monitor suddenly drops eggs. They all don’t drop them at 10 months of age and certainly not if you don’t "push" them as much. Keep an eye on ?her? and let us know. Belly swollen???

I would just keep an I on "it". Maybe he/she is looking for more humidity. Or any left over insects in the substrate.
