 V gilleni

Just wanted to share some pictures of v gilleni, they are a blast to keep. They’re super quirky and are bold as can be despite their little size.

Those are tiny juveniles still. Got a few months to go before they can reproduce.

Whoops :O
I know they’re a dwarf species maxing out smaller than ackies. Figured they were just little adults.

We need pics of Gilleni next to a dollar bill or quarter coin or something for scale! :)

Here you go krusty. Small for sure, but I think many put them on the V. caudolineatus or kingorum scale. I think large gilleni would make a meal out of most kingorum or caudos.

Here are some younger ones. I believe to be relatives of Alex’s. First a game of ’where’s the gilleni’

After you give up:

That one loves to stay high, checking out his place. Only been in there a few days, so maybe his pattern changes.

Crappy picture of his side wall that he stays all the way at the top of (and behind the wooden fluorescent light mount)

The rest of his place. His lady is in there somewhere. Some day, week, or month, it will be nice to see her as well:)

Cool pics. Thanks Brandon. Have you bred Gilleni previously with that big bloke on your hand? He’s a larger Gilleni from what I’ve seen of them.

Are you calling the larger (2nd picture) a bloke? The very raised nostrils always said male to me, but the rest of the body always said female to me. I never received any eggs from the two. What seemed to be swelling in the larger, followed by copulation (no hemipene insertion witnessed though), but nothing came of it. Something else saying male to you?

Here is another picture with a size reference from the younger gilleni. The blue light mount board is 7 inches, so that should give everyone a feel for the small size of mine and I assume Alex’s are roughly the same. Still some growing to do...

The other one decided to make an appearance today. Here are the two hanging out high together. Larger on left, smaller on right with just the head popping down.

The larger continues to get bolder for a tiny guy, hanging out in plain view for water bowl cleaning and cricket tossing. Gilleni are at the top of my list for sure on favorites, hard to see their beauty from photos and the fact that personality goes a long way.

If anyone else has any and grab pictures, it would be fun to see:)

The second adult with the big nostrils appears male, yes. Just bend the tails up a little. They’re easy to sex like tree Monitors, even 7" juveniles.

Here’s a juvi pic of one of mine:

Thanks for doing a better job on photography to do them a bit more justice! Nice looking little guy. Glad there are several of us with them now.

Yeah, that larger had zero hemipenal bulges that I could ever see and very reduced spurs compared to the other. Maybe just an odd duck exception.

Good luck with your gillen’s fellas!
