Looks really good and well built - lovely size for a monitor of that size as well.

Only thing i would suggest it to seal the bottom part of the enclosure with some FRP - when the wet dirt comes into contact with the wood, it will just rot it and the cage wont last for more than a month - the FRP should fix this!

Good job buddy!

Well the inside has 2 coats of thompsons along with 2 coats of polyacrilic all gaps will be sealed with 100% syclone and the bottom and up 16" I’m going with a linoleum then seal that as well any seams

Sounds like you are all sorted - as long as it holds heat/humidity well, im sure it will be great.

Keep us updated

Thanks so much with it being sealed I sure hope so I’m trying to avoid buying a mister for it just hoping that a few mist every so often will keep it up high enough along with the substrate. Krusty informed me that the best stuff is just good dirt from outside lol and I will deff keep everyone updated on it as I finish it should be the next week I’m hoping my wife is not too thrilled with all the trips to lowes lol

Looks great. You can FRP, paint, epoxy or linoleum the inside up.

Looks very well made. I like how the outside looks quite a bit and the size should last you a while.

Thanks it is very sturdy enough I can sit on the top of it lol some of the ideas came from the how to thread and I added some of my own ideas as well to it I’m still worried about humidity in it because if I can’t keep it up and have to install a mister I don’t know how I’m going to move it to get all the hoses ran it takes 3 grownen to pick it up now to move it around

Plexiglas comes out a little cheaper 30$ a door compared to 50 I think I priced real glass at

FYI before you commit....plexi will scratch and haze in a couple years and glass will be perfect so long as rocks or sharp objects don’t bang it. I know glass costs more, but it holds up better than anything else plastic/lexan or whatever to claws and sand,etc..

I agree with Krusty. Its a very nice enclosure and after a few months of your monitor scratching at the plexiglass you won’t be able to see inside. Definitely go with about 1/4 ’’ tempered glass. It will cost more but it will be worth it.

That was my concern also but with the glass really more difficult to mount it even so I may be replacing the plexiglas this first year maybe I will go with glass possibly now lol just not sure I’m going to look more into the glass and the best way to mount it to the 1x4 door frame

Mossy
Great job on the enclosure!
Glass can be mounted with the use of mirror holders available at any home improvement store, you can also make your own out of wood.

When it does come to glass though, be very particular and square with measurements, glass with no frame+not square placement=cuts on your arms and no glass anymore lol

I made that mistake and ended up getting pre framed glass.
Yours looks good though!

You can use custom glass used on coffee table tops. Like 1/4"-2/8" DSV with them bevelling the edges for safety. Glass shops will cut to your exact size and oversize the top slot the glass runs into so you can lift it straight up and out of the tracks. Easy to do. It’s more expensive but lasts a lifetime if you don’t hit it with a rock. I use that in several cages that I don’t just slap a recycled window onto.

What krusty said, find a local glass shop, I got my 3 custom panes for $70.

I think he charged me $6 a sq foot. Well worth it, and no compromising your design.
