My cumingi pair

Not the best photos but they are very nice indeed in the flesh so to speak.

Yep iv read a fair bit about these of late re-breeding , extra caution is definatly needed i think.

Steve
With the 1.2 trio I had, they all got along quite well until one day my male just ripped one of the females heads almost completely off with one slashing bite.

I just love Cumingi and hope you do well with yours!

I think with the cumingi once i’m sure of the sex’s i will separate and only put them together once the female is ovulating and again only then for a day or two and see how that pans out , a welded mesh divider will be used for the majority of the time i think then screened off if they successfully copulate so the female can get out of the male’s sight line.

Is there a history of difficulties keeping them in groups? Obviously not a lot of successful breedings like with the Aus species. Im pretty unfamiliar with Waters and the different variations. Beautiful lizards though.

Virtually everyone who’s ever dealt with Cumingi has a really evil story of how they died,....Frank, Mike, another buddy of mine, John L recently...the list goes on and on and on. They seem to need to be separated and only introduced at key times, but nobody ever does this and just leaves them together 24/7/365 with a horror story ending. Hopefully Steve can break the trend over the last decade attempting this magnificent species.

Justin , i agree and have read the horror stories behind the breeding attempts so hopefully now that this seems to be a "trait" with the cumingi i might have at least a decent attempt armed with the information tried so far.

Thanks all for the input and pointers these i WILL take note of when the time comes to breed.

This should help a ton, you still would have to watch very closely and be ready to intervene.
As with my group it happend in a flash!
Mike

Anyone know what happend to John L’s, or where they went??
I was looking forward to seeing their progress, especially after the copulation photo’s.

I guess I’ll have to watch your progress Steve"o".

Unfortunately Mike the male appears to have had a hand in drowning or something similar first one female and then the other , the "drowning" wasn’t witnessed first hand but the females had no bite or rake marks on them as far as im aware , very unfortunate indeed.
