Getting scared ok, terror hasnt eat’n in about 1 week now. not mice, not crickets not anything. His basking temp is 136 degrees, warm side is 88-90 and the cool side is 80. His humidity stays between 65 to 80 but never below 65. I dont know if I should just not put anything at all in there for about 3 more days and not go near the cage at all. Or if I should keep trying to feed once a day. It wouldnt bother me but he looks like his skin is starting to hang off of him. Please give some kind of advice if possible

Getting scared I once had the same problem w/ my baby red-tailed. Try a small mouse w/ the scent of chicken broth on it, stunn the mouse, but don’t flick it hard enough to kill it. A quick way to do this is by using the chicken gravy out of good quality canned cat food. Reptiles love the scent of chicken, well boids and monitors do atleast. I wouldn’t bother your Sav during this time. Also, if you could find quality canned cat food of poultry flavor that is in chunks, i’d place that in his terrarium before pouring chicken broth over a mouse. Keep in mind that canned cat food shouldn’t only be fed occasionally in the long run. Good luck.

Getting scared thanks for the help. I really wish that I could take what you said as gospel, however, I hear way to much people saying not to give your monitor pet food especially cat food. Now I’m not saying your wrong and I REALLY appreciate the help, I’d just like to see what some others say. I just dont feel safe giving him cat food. But if thats whats best for him I definately will. Thanks

Getting scared My mistake, I meant to say it should only be fed canned cat food occasionally. It can get your monitor obese and it’s sort of like feeding a kid candy. As for the chicken broth on the rodent trick, it doesn’t hurt to try. You will find that Boscs make eating a hobby, what i’ve seen them enjoy the most is garden snails. But it would be best to listen to the experts first.

Getting scared Just taking a guess, but I am willing to bet Terror is stressed. You just put him in a new cage. Did you give him time to get accostomed to it ? Are you checking on him all the time? Are you handling him? Is he staying in his hide or burrow? Try this, just leave him alone for a week. Don’t open the cage except to give clean water, do this then leave. Don’t hover at the glass staring at him. Just leave him alone. After a week, chop up some mice and place them in his cage and walk away. Scott

Getting scared ok. that sounds like a good idea. I can definately do that. I did leave him alone for about a week when I put him in his cage. But then again, I was putting food in there every day to trying to force him to eat by hanging it right in his face. Thanks for the help. I of course will keep everyone posted.

Getting scared You should definatly take your animal to the VET NOW! IF he is not eating there is something wrong with him. He may in fact be stressed but you need to help him. The vet will be able to give him the medicine that he needs. If he will not eat by himself the vet can give you a liquid food that you can force feed him. My monitor went through the same thing. He is ok now but you need to help him. Do not just leave him alone. He may die if you do!

Getting scared I have taken him to the vet. and yes when I bought him he had a bad case of worms. but he was still eating last week. It must be that he is stressed. I have the deworming medicine.
