my female Argus got really big again i thought she was going 2 drop another clutch she looked like she had a football in her tummy and then in like 2 days she went back 2 normal so i was thinking she was cycling she was with a big old male the hole time i threw her in with my new male and they did there little resting game and he won and he started chasing her a round the cage he finally got her stoped and is attempting 2 breed her i was just wondering if he would only breed her if she was cycling i dont think she is pregnant right now but would he still try and breed her if she was

Hi Mike, please use puncuation.
Males will mount males, males will mount females, females will mount males and females will mount females.
They don’t have to be cycling to do this, it’s a dominace behavoir.
If the female is cycling, she will let the male mount her.
If she is running and trying to get away, it means she is not accepting him as a mate, or is not cycling.

she stoped and let the male mount her they were breeding so she prolly was cycling. she closed her eyes and lifted her tail for this male and he mounted her. they have done it prolly 4 times that i saw today so i hope i get some nice fertile eggs

If she is staying put and lifting her tail, I would make sure you have plenty of perilite and the incubator ready.

i do. i have a hovabator and a tub big enough for about 12 eggs. in about a week or 2 iam going 2 be buying a big home mad one that works good that a friend of mine is selling

i have noticed that she looks thin around her hips she looked huge a couple days ago. Is this a normal part of cycling females. it all most looks like she laid clutch of eggs iam pretty sure she didn’t she ate the past 3 days and i didn’t find any eggs in her cage i separated her from the male that was breeding her just in case she was gravid.the main ? i had was do females when they cycle get really bloated looking and than look like there thin around there hips. iv herd some where that females look thin around there hips be for they lay a clutch so i took that male out just 2 be safe iam going 2 wait a week and if there is no eggs laid i will put the male back in with her. just trying 2 get all the input i can. thanks mike

Been busy for a few days, Im back..
Id have a much bigger incubator for an argus, their eggs are 2.5 inches long, the mass of perlite required for that size of egg and that will stay damp enough for 8 months will be a small sized sweater box (2 gallons???) for 4 eggs alone.
The cycling is a difficult thing to recognize untill you see it a few times.

Been busy for a few days, Im back..
iam geting a 3foot tall and 2 foot wide incubator from my freind in like 3 days. the tubs i have are allomst as big as the whole hovabator i have perilite.he is going 2 give me tubs he uses witch are 12 quart tubs wich i will prolly put 4 eggs each in they 16 by 11 by 6 inches. ican prolly fit atleast 20 or so tubs in this incubator.
